Every year, Pack 311 organizes and runs a weekend "Adventure Camp" at Camp Josepho --
nestled in the mountains of the Pacific Palisades -- where our Scouts can experience an immersive
camping adventure not available anywhere else.

The camp was named for the donor of the 110 acres on which the camp is situated,
Anatol M. Josepho, inventor of the "photomaton," which later became known as the photo booth.
In the spirit of the camp's namesake, and using the skills and expertise of leaders and parents
(many of whom are stage and screen professionals), Adventure Camp uniquely combines the values and traditions of Scouting with our favorite Hollywood adventure movie characters and storylines.

The weekend is truly a highlight of our Scouting year, featuring traditional camp activities,
Scout skills, Scout crafts, campfire and "cracker barrel," but framed within a themed adventure
storyline that often concludes with the appearance of a special surprise guest.

The fun kicks off on a Friday evening with a movie screening in the Malibu Lodge.

On Saturday morning, participants (both Scouts and siblings in first through fifth grade)
are divided into four equal-sized teams made up of Scouts from all dens so there is a range of ranks/ages
on every team. The teams then embark on group-based activities -- solving puzzles, deciphering clues,
collecting "passport" stamps, and discovering hidden items. Each discovery-based and family-oriented
activity adds life experience and knowledge while tasking everyone to “Do Their Best.”

Incorporated into the adventure are references to the Arrow-of-Light and The Scout Law, etc.

At the conclusion of camp, we often see our oldest Cubs Scouts bridge to local Troops,
and everyone goes home tired but happy, with special memories that will last a lifetime.
