John Glenn: On February 20, 1962, he flew the Friendship 7 mission and became the first American to orbit the Earth.
Sir Edmund Hillary & Sherpa Tenzing Norgay: On 29 May 1953, Hillary and Norgay became the first climbers confirmed as having reached the summit of Mount Everest.
Jacques-Yves Cousteau: A French naval officer, explorer, conservationist, filmmaker, innovator, scientist, photographer, author and researcher who studied the sea and all forms of life in water. He co-developed the Aqua-Lung and pioneered marine conservation.
Amelia Earhart: An American aviation pioneer and author, Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
Richard E. Byrd & Paul Siple: An American naval officer who specialized in feats of exploration, Byrd was a pioneering American aviator, polar explorer, and organizer of polar logistics. Representing the Boy Scouts of America as an Eagle Scout, Paul Siple took part in two Byrd expeditions.
Meriwether Lewis & William Clark & Sacagawea: Between 1804 and 1806, the first American expedition to cross the western portion of the United States was led by Lewis and Clark, along with their native American interpreter and guide Sacagawea.
Daniel Boone: An American pioneer, explorer, and frontiersman whose exploits made him one of the first folk heroes of the United States, and a distant relative of Webelos Scout Matthew Sapper!
Ferdinand Magellan: A Portuguese explorer who became known for having organised the expedition that resulted in the first circumnavigation of the Earth.
Marco Polo: A merchant traveler from the Republic of Venice whose travels did much to introduce Europeans to Central Asia and China.
